Amy Osborne, M.A.

While pursuing a career in communications and public affairs, Amy returned to writing and research on trauma informed mindfulness, work which evolved over the past ten years.

Upon receiving her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 2012, Amy published her first manuscript, "Costa Rica & the 'Electric Fence' Mentality: Stunting Women's Socio-economic Participation in the 21st Century" in the Journal of International Women's Studies (2013).

Amy then served as editor for a Brill publication, Worldviews: Global Religions, Culture, and Ecology, for two years while completing her Master’s of Arts in Dharma Studies at Loyola Marymount University, in Los Angeles, CA. Following graduation, she published her thesis, entitled A Year in Yoga: Science and Practice of Trauma Informed Mindfulness in 2016.

Upon completing her graduate degree in 2016, she moved near her parents in Southwest Florida and took on ownership of a local yoga studio. She soon expanded to include massage therapy and other healing modalities in a 2,000 sq ft community space, where she and over 30 teachers hosted yoga teacher trainings, served kids (age 5 and up), adults and families, shared yoga and Reiki offerings in Spanish, and showcased wellness inventory only from local artists and merchants.

Amy began a second business entity, In Yoga Collective, established in 2014, which allowed her to share trauma informed mindfulness beyond her brick and mortar studio, throughout Sarasota and Charlotte Counties in Florida, as well as California, Indiana and Rhode Island. Amy consults for local businesses, hospitals and clinics, leading the development of their own custom wellness programs, based on In Yoga Collective’s approach.

Through her work, Amy aims to increase awareness and access to physiological well-being by sharing the science and practice of self-regulation and resilience. She currently offers trainings for staff and community organizations, as well as individual coaching programs, to share evidence-based trauma informed techniques with kids and adults.

Amy Osborne currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island with her two rescue pitbulls, Shakti and Koi, in a small home surrounded by trees.
