TESTIMONIALS

CLINICAL WELLNESS PROGRAM

“Amy Osborne and the In Yoga Collective team were able to help us establish and grow a Wellness program that created a cohesive flow with our existing Neuroscience programs.  We were able the take the leap and marry traditional medicine with holistic practices providing our patients with a comprehensive approach to their healing.  Our programs and patients benefited with a new path to healthier living.”

- Business Manager, Re3 Healing Neuro Institute (2020)

REHABILITATIVE JUSTICE

A survey provided to women at Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) participating in the Yoga program 2-3x weekly reported: improved sleep quality, an increased capacity to relax in a hypervigilant environment, increased awareness of individual muscle groups (body awareness), enhanced capacity for self-regulation and anxiety alleviation by applying tools and techniques learned in class throughout the week.

SUCCESS STORIES

-       August 2014 to 2018, Yoga Program Development, including six weekly classes for various populations. Century Regional Detention Facility, Lynwood, CA.

Amy collaborated with Century Regional Detention Facility administrators to facilitate the security check process for herself and five fellow instructors over the course of nine months.  With persistence and upon completing specialized training, instructors began teaching six weekly classes in 2015 which continued through 2018. Amy solicited grant funds to support the purchase of yoga mats and instructional books for prisoners, and successfully advocated for a paid Graduate Assistantship specifically dedicated to the continuation of the Yoga in Prison program and Restorative Justice.

Unfortunately, the program ceased following Amy’s departure in 2018 when instructor’s security qualifications were revoked. Amy and IYC continue to support LMU Engaged Learning and Graduate Yoga Studies in their shared efforts to reinvigorate the Yoga program at CRDF and neighboring facilities.  See qualitative outcomes of this program below.

-       August 2019 to June 2020, Wellness Program Development, including various weekly classes in Yoga and mindfulness, Yoga Therapy private sessions, staff retreat, public lunch n’ learn and training courses. Re3 Healing Neuro Institute, Sarasota, FL.

Re3 Neuro Institute executives and surgeons invited Amy and the IYC team to present on the topic of Trauma Informed techniques and how a comprehensive Yoga, meditation and mindfulness program could benefit overall mental and physical health outcomes for Re3 clients.

Dr. Wang was adamant to share the “leaky faucet theory,” asserting that many surgeons address the symptoms but not the cause of chronic pain. He and his team sought partnership to alleviate dis-ease at its source; often related to unresolved stress, trauma and/or sedentary lifestyle. Through applied trauma informed movement and meditation, Amy collaborated with Re3’s Business Manager to develop a strategy to meet the needs of every client. Services included Chair yoga, Gentle and All Levels, as well as Meditation and Mindfulness workshops, Wellness Open House and weekly therapeutic private sessions.

In Yoga Collective successfully supported the launch, implementation and integration of Re3’s Wellness program which continues on independently today. IYC looks forward to continuing to serve Re3 Healing and similar clients through staff retreats, client retreats, and bi-annual trauma informed trainings for Re3 instructors and the broader community.
