Collective unfolding
November 6, 2024
Today of all days, there is a lot of complexity to hold. Divergent viewpoints and intentions that deserve sensitivity – because they are based on and affirmed by each person’s lived experience. No two beings are the same.
And yet, the spiritual or core essence of all beings is the same. As we understand in Samkhya tradition: Purusha is unchangeable, while Prakrti is ever-changing, shifting, evolving. Purusha is our central eternal beingness, while Prakrti is the material, fluctuating, manifest world.
We learn from Buddhist mindfulness practices to recite Loving Kindness to cultivate compassion and empathy by wishing peace, safety and happiness for all beings, and for ourselves.
We hold difference and sameness together in Jain and Baháʼí notions of “all one” which appear in stark similarity to the Hindi derived notion of “Om” from the Rg Veda and the Christian doctrine “treat others the way you would like to be treated” (Luke 6:31).
As we maneuver a collective reconciliation with difference today and in the weeks and months ahead, we can rest in the Reality of our sameness. And lean into the peace, safety and love of local community, friends and family that surround us - which we are also responsible for actively upholding and cultivating.
While processing grief and anger, also remember relentless joy.
Feeling disparate from our values can propel us forward - individually and collectively - with the energy required to shape innovations most needed for humanity and the planet to thrive.
Put more simply, challenges motivate new paths forward.
I look forward to seeing and learning from this brilliant community and the people I hold dear and surround myself with.
There is much dreaming to do, and action to take.
But today, I say we rest. Feel what is to be felt. Rest into the validity of your own experience, and hold that of those around you as best you can - in the uniqueness of your and their own lived experience.
And at the end of the day, radically join together.
Consider: What role will you play in the future you most want to see unfold?
While this question deserves long-term reflection, presence with ourselves is the first step.
If you feel inspired to prioritize body, mind and soulful alignment today or this week, please join me in-person (PVD) or virtually for class this evening at 6-7:30pm EST - or receive the recording.
Once signed up, you will automatically receive the meeting link and recording for tonight and future classes at no cost.
Today, I rest in our togetherness (and acknowledge the complex, messy emotions therein) and look to the positive transformations yet to come from our collective unfolding…
With you in Yoga,
Amy
